September is Dental Month at Fletcher Vet!
We’ve been doing Pet Dental Month for years now, and for great reason, as healthy teeth and gums contribute to a much better quality of life. This month, we hope to educate about dentistry needs, and offer great savings and rewards.
A bit about dental hygiene:
Gum disease (also known as periodontal disease) is one of the biggest threats to your pet’s health. 80% of pets over 2 years of age suffer, meaning just 20% of pets have a healthy mouth at this young age. That’s why it’s crucial that dental check-ups are part of your pet’s annual veterinary visit, and home dental care is done.
There are 4 stages of oral health: Stage 1: Healthy, Stage 2: Gingivitis, Stage 3: Early Periodontitis, Stage 4: Advanced Periodontitis.
Home-care products:
Luckily, we have some super-strength products that fight-off these nasties, to leave your pet’s teeth white, shiny, healthy, and free of stinky breath!
For the chewers and treat lovers: Delicate Care dental diet, Hills t/d diet and Greenies dental treats are a great way to mechanically clean your pet’s teeth, by scraping off the plaque and tartar that has formed. They are great for dogs and cats who like something to chew on, and are 100% money-back guaranteed!
For the fussy eaters: There are many dogs out there who don’t like to chew too much (Malteses and Chihuahuas we’re looking at you). Plaque off is used as a supplement to add to your pet’s food, and is an algae-derived powder that protects the teeth from plaque.
